Mates in Construction - A barbecue and a Conversation

Building More Than Communities: Supporting Mental Health in Construction
A barbecue, a conversation, and a powerful reminder that looking after your mates matters.
Recently, Azure welcomed Mates in Construction to our Wellbrook by Azure project in Rothwell, bringing together our team, subcontractors and industry partners for a site barbecue focused on mental health awareness and support.
More than 100 construction workers voluntarily took time out of their day to sit down, share a meal, and listen to important conversations around mental health, wellbeing and the support services available within our industry.
Construction remains one of Australia's highest-risk industries for mental health challenges, making initiatives like Mates in Construction more important than ever. By creating opportunities for open discussion, education and connection, these programs help break down stigma and encourage people to seek support when they need it.
What made the morning particularly meaningful was seeing the level of engagement from everyone involved. The willingness of so many workers to participate reinforced the importance of continuing these conversations across our sites and throughout the broader construction industry.
We are proud to support organisations like Mates in Construction and the critical work they do every day to improve mental health outcomes for construction workers and their families.
Because building great communities starts with looking after the people who build them.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the Mates in Construction team for their ongoing commitment to creating safer, healthier workplaces across our industry.
